Plumeria cv ‘Kimi Moragne’

P. ‘Kimi Moragne’ is one of the famous Moragne hybrids produced by the late Mr. William Moragne, Sr. of Lihue, Kauai, Hawaii during the 1950s. After nearly twenty years of experiments, Mr. Moragne performed the first documented cross pollination of Plumeria rubra varieties. The results are some of the most spectacular plumeria cultivars known. He named this cultivar for his granddaughter Kimi.

‘Kimi Moragne’ is noted for its huge clusters of flowers and the duration of its blooming period. During periods of high ambient temperature, the red-purple pigment in the flowers is very intense.

Petal Shading

Top:The center quarter (bottom) is Red 42A, but looks orange red. The balance of the petal is very grainy Red-Purple 60D and is generally more intense on the right.
Bottom:A Red-Purple 60D stripe on the left is followed by another one that is somewhat paler. Together, they cover about half the petal. The right half is grainy Red-Purple 60D on white with white veins. There is a small patch of Yellow-Orange 23B in the lower right that fades the white.
